Susan Sarandon Bio
It was 1968. Democratic Convention, and there was a casting need for a film with a variety of roles for young actors who disrupted the event. Joe (1970) was auditioned in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon, who had trained to become an actor, was passed by the casting committee. His wife Susan was given a prominent part in the film as Susan Compton as the child of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill, Susan's drug dealer partner, is killed in the film. Joe (Peter Boyle) is a bigot, who works in an assembly line then meets Joe (Sarandon). Janet is a character who falls in love with Dr. Frank n Furter, is the role of Janet in the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). After more than 15 years of beginning her career Sarandon was finally active in a campaign for a great role, Annie in Bull Durham (1988), taking a flight on her own expense from Rome from Rome to Los Angeles. "It was an incredible script... It was able to do rid of a lot of myths, and challenged the American notions of what success is," she stated. "When I arrived at the studio I spent a bit of time with Kevin Costner, kissed some in the studio, and then went back to my plane". Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988), supporting actor was her first love. He had two sons in 1992. This puts Sarandon in an awkward position. She would leave her home to take on characters that were extremely difficult. This was the result of four Academy Award nominations in 1990s, and best actress for Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980), was her first Academy Award nomination.
